Peloton is Hiring a Welder III Near Whitsett, NC

ABOUT THE ROLE

Incumbent is responsible for welding together metal components to fabricate strength equipment using electric arc-welding equipment. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor.

Work Schedule: 4-10 Monday through Thursday First Shift: 6:00 am – 4:30 pm

Overtime may be mandated on Friday and Saturday

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

  • Obtains specific electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun.
  • Connects cables from the welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified.
  • Starts power supply to produce electric current.
  • Strikes (forms) arc which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to workpiece and join edges of workpiece.
  • Manually guides electrodes or gun along a weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
  • Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Applies filler rod manually to supply weld metal.
  • Positions and clamps workpieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.
  • Tacks assemblies together.
  • Cleans workpieces to remove impurities, such as spatter, slag, beads, rust, and grease, using wire brush, portable grinder, sander and/or hand tools.
  • Inspects welded workpieces for defects, such as cracks, cold weld, spatter, and undercuts.
  • Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes.
  • Prepares broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
  • Operates various portable hand, power air tools, i.e., screwdriver, wrenches, sockets, calipers, clamping devices, grinders, hand drills, belt sanders.
  • Operates material handling equipment including pallet jacks, utility carts, and hand trucks.
  • Loads/unloads stock material from bins and carts.
  • Keeps the area neat and in order.
  • Inspects, cleans, and maintains machines, tools, parts, stock, equipment, and work area
  • Reports damage, wear, tear, and other potential defects.
    Keeps the area stocked with supplies.
  • Follow all safety rules, policies, and safe work practices.
  • Rotates to different workstations as assigned.

YOU BRING TO PELOTON

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Welding trade school or apprenticeship training highly preferred
  • Minimum one year welding experience
  • Other manufacturing experience helpful
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, quantify, and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions, department paperwork, safety warning labels and placards
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Ability to operate hand tools and equipment such as: arc welding machines (MIG, TIG, GMAW), robotic welder, wire feeders, compressed gas cylinders, supported air tools, portable power tools, hand tools, bench-top presses, arbor presses, hoists, wheeled carts & bins, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment
  • Ability to listen to others and appropriately act on information provided
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and keep up with time-sensitive operations
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure or deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to always act in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to comply with Attendance Policy

Work is performed indoors in a heated modern factory space. Ambient working temperature may range from 55 F – 100 F, depending on season. Work area is clean and free from wet, slippery conditions. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and gloves. Potential hazards may include working with moving parts (machines guarded per OSHA rules), nip points, material handling, sharp edges on stock, flying particles, sparks, heat, welding fumes, arc rays/light, electrical, lifting, and moderate noise exposure (70-90 db). Ability to lift to 40 lbs. Frequent (7-10 hrs daily) talking, seeing, standing, use of hands. Routine (3-7 hrs daily) bending, twisting, lifting waist to shoulder, reaching at or below shoulder. Occasional (1-3 hrs daily) walking, simple finger grasping, lifting floor to waist, lifting shoulder to overhead, reaching over shoulder, and pushing & pulling (wheeled carts and bins).
