SUMMARYPerforms a variety of routine duties to grind pellets and mix powders with colors for rotocast, blowmold and injection molding operations. Organizes and schedules the work flow across all shifts and is responsible for the technical aspects of maintaining the machines.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESFollows prescribed methods in the operation of pellet-grinding machines.Operates silo-unloading equipment and/or moves Gaylord/Carton of pellets to grinder and removes Gaylord carton of powder to storage area with forklift or pallet truck.Maintains quality checks during cycle of each container by sampling plan. Maintains record of mesh, lot weight, etc. as per prescribed procedures.Uses all prescribed and/or necessary procedures to prevent material contamination.Mixes powders or other molding materials for blowmold, rotocast and injection molding as required and specified.Stores materials, ensures proper labeling and inventory records.Adjusts and maintains machines based on technical requirements for efficient operation.Organizes the workflow and schedules the work across all shifts.Conducts required training across all shifts.Maintains blowmold silos, assists in deliveries and takes and records readings.Maintains communications with purchasing and engineering departments to ensure accurate supplies.Responsible for cycle counts and inventory control in department.Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.Performs additional duties as assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTSQualifications include:Must have a valid license and pass the internal forklift driving test.Must have understanding and ability to follow all established safety procedures and guidelines.Must be able to use basic hand tools.Must be able to follow verbal and/or written instructions.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Actively supports and complies with Pelican’s objectives, guidelines and commitment to Quality and Safety, with an emphasis on continual improvement.Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 poundsThis position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
