We are excited to announce an opening for an Electro Mechanical Technician (1st Shift) in our South Deerfield, MA location.

SUMMARY

The Electro Mechanical Technician requires advanced experience with respect to electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems for troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades and preventative maintenance to machines and related production equipment. This role will also provide technical training to junior technicians. Responsibilities also include root cause analysis of machinery failures and proactive resolution of problems to improve daily operations of equipment.

What You'll Do:

  • Designs and prepares electrical schematics and performs various electrical tasks and repairs to improve facility operations
  • Occasionally uses PLC systems to troubleshoot control systems and network communication interfaces.
  • Plans and performs periodic inspections to identify equipment and/ or electrical machinery that is worn and in need of replacement, repairs or upgrades.
  • Performs or assists with other maintenance trade tasks.
  • Occasionally required to obtain electrical permits for facility projects.
  • Maintains complicated electrical and electronic systems and equipment used in various processes including but not limited to: temperature controllers, AC/DC drives, instrumentation, HVAC systems and CNC milling machines.
  • Contributes to and/ or leads new construction projects including the design and layout of various circuits/systems. 
  • Forms relationships and works with various external contractors to execute facility projects.
  • Supports preventative maintenance schedules for all machine systems and equipment.
  • Instructs and directs one or more secondary level maintenance mechanics.
  • Reports problematic machinery conditions and/ or technical conduct to supervision.
  • Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Actively supports Pelican’s Quality Objectives and contributes to the Quality Management System as assigned. 
  • Actively supports and adheres to Pelican’s Safety Guidelines and actively participates and contributes to the Safety Management System as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Department Managers.

What You'll Need:

  • Must have 3-5 years experience in a related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment. High school diploma required and certification through a trade or technical school preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain MA State Journeyman Electrical License. 
  • Must own basic electrical and maintenance tools. 
  • Knowledgeable with respect to NEC rules (National Electric Code) and have the ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and specs.
  • Ability to operate industrial trucks, including forklifts and man lifts; must hold and maintain certification and be able to work at elevated heights.
  • Must possess knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controls) and computer operated machinery.
  • Possess math skills appropriate to the position, in addition to written verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written and/ or verbal instructions.
  • Possess basic to intermediate computer skills including acknowledge of MS Windows applications.
  • Must be able to communicate and interact effectively and cooperatively with vendors, contractors and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by Facility Manager or Team Lead.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice. Must be available to work extended schedules including 24-hour on call, evenings and weekends as necessary.
