The role of the Purchasing Specialist will assist the Purchasing Manager with research and purchasing goods and services to meet organizational needs. They are responsible for processing and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail, and they will maintain stock and inventory supplies and complete annual audits on fixed assets and inventory. The ideal candidate is a go-getter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for serving others. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel, is a must! They should be comfortable working independently and as a contributing member of a team. Meeting deadlines and attention to detail are critical pieces of this position. A Day in the Life of a Purchasing Specialist INCLUDES:Preparing and processing purchase orders using established purchasing policies and procedures.Researching vendors and collecting prices, specifications, and other data related to goods and services.Abiding by company policies and regulations, including ensuring approved budget for supply and equipment purchases is followed.Maintaining adequate stock of supplies in break rooms and copy rooms, including supplies for printing equipment.Arranging for deliveries with companies such as UPS and FedEx Purchasing Specialist Skills and qualifications includes:A high school education or GED. 2 years of experience in the sourcing and purchasing of materials and supplies, inventory control, vendor management, and mail distribution.Experience in a financial service institution preferred.Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skillsStrong problem-solving, attention to detail, and member service skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel Other things you may want to know about this position:Work ScheduleMonday – Friday8:00 am – 5:00 pmTravelTravel is rarely necessary for this position.
