Looking for MAs across our North Fork offices (Mattituck, Cutchogue, and Greenport). The hours of the shift depend on which shift you are hired for. Some travel is required based on staffing needs.

Education: Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Experience: One year clinical medical experience as a medical office assistant preferred.

Training/Certification: Current medical assistant certification or progressive experience as a medical assistant.

Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Employee must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Employee must be able to write simple correspondence and effectively present information to physicians, physician extenders, patients and employees of the medical practice. Employee must have basic knowledge of computers and be comfortable documenting information in an electronic health record, when technology becomes available.

Job Responsibilities:
*Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
* Prepare examination rooms and patient charts.
* Escort patients to room; prepare patients for examinations.
* Record height, weight and blood pressure for patient visit; chart or enter in electronic health record and graph findings.
* Ask patient or guardian about chief complaint and document.
* Prepare charts for upcoming patient visits with proper paperwork necessary for the visit.
* Perform vision and hearing screenings, EKG, PFT and any other testing as necessary.
* Assist physicians and physician extender(s) as needed with patient care visits, and paperwork preparation, as needed.
* Clean and restock rooms and equipment.
* Relay messages as may be required by physicians or physician extender(s).
* Assist physician and physician extenders with renewal of prescriptions.
* Assist physicians and physician extenders with test results to patients.
* Assist the front desk staff as necessary with phones, filing preparation of patient charts.
* Obtain blood samples, if certified, by venipuncture or finger stick.
* Instructs patients on urine collection procedures and performs urine dipstick tests.
* Prepare and run strep tests and all other laboratory tests as needed.
* Completes all lab requisition form and prepares specimens for laboratory transport.
* Assist physicians, physician extender(s) and nurses with procedures.
* Prepare instruments for autoclave.
* Order and stock supplies.
* Document in electronic health record (EHR), when available.
* Limits and refrains from personal conversations and/or phone calls, text messaging and e-mailing.
* Perform all other work as assigned

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a team member’s base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity.)

Pay: $19.00 - $26.64 per hour
