Peavler|Briscoe is Hiring a Litigation Paralegal Near Grapevine, TX

If you are an enthusiastic and organized worker looking for a place to work that values life/work balance, Peavler|Briscoe may be the place for you! At P|B, we value the person over experience (though we like experience too!). But so long as we hire the right person with the right attitude who fits in with our fun but hard-working team, we can train them to do the job.

We are looking for a qualified litigation paralegal. Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and, most importantly, a positive outlook and attitude. A good sense of humor is also required. Must be a team player who is willing to help out others as needed.

Who are we?

We are a defense law firm located in Grapevine, Texas that primarily handles personal-injury litigation. We mostly defend large companies (like Kroger, Target, Omni Hotels, Brookshire's, etc.) in everything from trucking accidents to slips and falls. We have approximately 27 employees: 10-12 lawyers, 4-5 legal assistants, and then various support-staff positions (billing manager, HR manager, bookkeeper, receptionist, clerks, etc.) As far as longevity, we have four employees who have been with us 10 years; three employees who have been here 6-10 years; and five employees who have been here 3-5 years. The ages of our employees range from their early 20s to their 60s, with half in their 30s or early 40s. We prefer people who are enthusiastic and motivated self-starters with a solid work ethic. The ones who succeed and stay with us have positive attitudes and are “young at heart.” We like to have fun, play firm-wide games, and enjoy group social activities (like cornhole tournaments or a firm-wide game of assassin). But we also work hard and occasionally have to work late or on a weekend (such as when we’re going to trial). We pride ourselves on our quality of work, strong relationships with clients, and killer results.

What will I do?

You will do a little of just about everything! But primarily your job will consist of;

· Compose and produce legal correspondence, pleadings, motions, and related documents.

· Perform administrative duties associated with scheduling and coordinating meetings, mediations, witness interviews, depositions, and other events.

· Assist in preparation, development, and production of documents through the discovery process.

· Assist in preparation, development, and coordination of trial.

· Schedule, Assign, and prioritize workload by setting appropriate deadlines in line with the applicable Rules of Civil Procedure.

· Perform other case-related duties as assigned and requested.

What experience or personality traits do I need to succeed at P|B?

You need to be smart, motivated, and a quick and eager learner. You need to be a team player and not “above” doing whatever needs to be done. If you don’t have a “what else can I do to help?” mindsight, please do not apply.

You need to be compassionate, empathetic and a good listener. You need to be eager to learn and develop, enthusiastic to help, and a wellspring of positivity. You need to be a self-starter who anticipates needs and doesn’t always wait to be asked. If you’re a complainer, gossiper, or grumbler, save all of us the time and don’t apply. We are only looking for people who invigorate a good environment.

What will I receive?

You will receive competitive pay commensurate with your experience level. Of course, we know we don’t pay as much as some larger law firms and organizations, but we offer many valuable “intangibles,” including “Fun Fridays” (every Friday we get off at 3:00 p.m.), approximately 11-13 holiday days off each year (it varies by year), three weeks’ paid time off (“PTO”), and a solid benefits package. In particular we offer/provide the following:

  • Group health insurance, for which we offer a $500/month subsidy.
  • Vision and dental insurance.
  • Disability insurance (the firm pays 100% of the premium).
  • Life insurance (the firm pays 100% of the premium).
  • Three weeks PTO, with the ability to earn up to one more week (accrues at an additional one extra day every two years of service).

In addition, we’re dog friendly – you can bring your dogs to work! We give random bonuses and raises depending on a variety of factors, including the firm’s overall collections and the employee’s productivity, quality of work, attitude, and teamwork (while there are no guarantees since the future is unpredictable, we will note that for 15 years we have never gone a year without giving bonuses and/or raises, or both!).

Finally, you’ll get the satisfaction of working with a top-rate group of attorneys, legal assistants, and other valuable employees, and the pride of being a part of significant victories and even shaping Texas law. But as great as our past has been, we’re looking forward to even greater things in the future—and that’s where you come in. Our future depends on having the right team on the field, and we’re hoping you are exactly the teammate we’re looking for!
