Role Summary

The OSP Engineering Director will manage customer relationships, drive continuous improvement and have the ability to lead engineering operations. The Director is responsible for the management, training, safety, and development of a staff of qualified engineers and technicians. Additionally, the Director will focus on the collaborative process and relationship building with customers and internal functional teams in correlation with the division's key performance indicators. You will develop and maintain organizational alignment with the rest of the business to support the company's key performance indicators. The role requires travel, both domestically and internationally.

Remote, Preference Dallas, TX and Atlanta, GA

Summary of Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of short and long-term (multi-year) plans and strategies; Participate in RFPs and create pricing and estimating models by applying job costing techniques.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets; research and report on variances; regularly make recommendations for effective cost reductions, etc., with VP.
  • Monitor and report on project performance metrics, costs, and other relevant KPIs; Manage forecasts.
  • Identify areas where processes may be improved and/or efficiencies gained; Develop plans to address; Share technical knowledge and support to other teams to improve efficiencies.
  • Effectively manage a team by managing resources/capacity, assigning projects/initiatives; monitor and manage employee performance to include coaching and active performance management/reviews; Identify individual training/development needs, create appropriate plans to close skills gaps, and retain staff.
  • Lead and manage all functions within the customer's scope of work; Ensure project compliance with all applicable customer standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and develop the best product deliverable; Serve as the single point of contact for customer escalations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and understanding of the different types of telecom scopes.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required to support the needs of the team and the business.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

  • You will define and drive the team goals through technology advancement, financial management, and succession planning to support our customers and exceed our goals.
  • You will drive business development through customer communication, relationship building, and quality delivery.
  • You will be an accountable leader for the execution of customer projects and engagements and lead the management team to ensure project success.
  • You will recruit, develop, and oversee projects and/or functional managers within the organization and lead a medium to a large team; Create and maintain succession plans to ensure high-potential employees are identified and prepared to fill critical management positions.
  • You will effectively develop and leverage senior-level relationships with external and internal customers.
  • You will lead and inspire the organization to ensure quality is built into work products by owning the quality system and design process and ensure technical success.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 8 years of telecom industry experience working in operations or management
  • 3 years in a management role with direct reports; Demonstrate leadership and coaching skills acquired through previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience with US wireline customers (such as ATT, Lumen, Frontier, Windstream); Preferred experience working directly for a US wireline customer
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related telecommunication field experience
  • Strong understanding of fiber and copper design and prior experience with BAU and or fiber to the home
  • Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills; Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and demands with competing priorities, all while making timely decisions
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills to drive strong relationships with other departments and internal and external customers.
