DescriptionJob Description PeaceHealth is seeking a Certified First Assistant - Operating Room for a Temporary, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $35.22 – $52.84. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Collaborates during surgery with the surgeon and the healthcare team in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient.

PeaceHealth requires a completed Primary Vaccine Series (e.g., 2 dose monovalent Pfizer, Moderna or Novavax series or 1 dose J&J vaccine series) or be Up to Date (receiving the most recent Pfizer/Moderna bivalent vaccine/booster) for COVID-19 vaccination prior to their start date. PeaceHealth has a medical and religious exemption request process for those that are unable to receive the COVID-19 primary vaccine series due to medical/religious reasons. Essential Functions
- Accumulates the appropriate surgical armamentarium.
- Positions the patient on the operating room table.
- Preps patient for surgical procedures (shave, catheterize, drape, etc.).
- Provides exposure for the surgical procedure.
- Provides hemostasis by suction, cauterization, clamping, suturing or ligation.
- Administers local anesthesia as directed by the surgeon.
- Places dressing.
- Maintains accurate, legible and confidential records. Completes documentation pertinent to patient medical record.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Accredited Program Required: Surgical Technology.
- Accredited Program Required: Certified First Assistant.
- Required: Completion of a mentored internship with a minimum of 120 hours of clinical experience demonstrating the ability to function as a CFA.
- Minimum of 1 year Required: Demonstrated training and minimum of one year of experience and current competence in performing CFA tasks required.
- Required: Certified First Assistant
- Required: Certified Surgical Technologist
- Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support
- Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated.
- Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision.
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications.
- Understanding of operating room protocols.
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Frequent Manual Dexterity and Tactile Sensitivity.
- Frequent push/ pull/ carry/ stoop/ bend/ reach.
- Occasional Kneeling.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
