Purpose of the Role

Ensure all aspects of the longwall setup planning is proficiently managed. This includes, wall infrastructure safety, equipment, materials, staffing, cost efficiencies and planning with minimal interruption to the production of the mine.

Key Role Accountabilities

• Manage the longwall equipment short and long-term planning, tracking and inventory while working in conjunction with the longwall planner
• Develop longwall setup and recovery planning, inventory, with daily work plans and timing
• Identify and implement continuous improvement (CI) strategies targeting safety, reliability and cost savings with longwall equipment and materials.
• Rotating on-call duties with the maintenance coordinator to cover break downs and unplanned maintenance
• Step in and perform the functions of the maintenance coordinator and/or longwall production coordinator as needed for department coverage
• Collaborate with maintenance coordinator in implementing the maintenance work plans
• Generate work plans, work orders and PO’s via SAP system.
• Work in a safe and productive manner that represents the values of Peabody

Role Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and/or 8-10 years Longwall Mining Experience
• Alabama Mine Foreman Certification (Desirable)
• Current electrical card (relevant state) (Desirable)
• Must have high level of understanding MSHA regulations and Mechanical and Electrical Codes of Practice
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs

Experience

• 8 - 10 years of supervisor experience
• Experience in Planning & Execution Techniques
• Experience in Success Factors, SAP and Kronos is a plus
• Knowledge of conducting safety inspections and completing risk assessments
• Equipment reliability trending analyst

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift
• Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
• Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom
• Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
• Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height
• Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
• Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination
• Must have the ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 80 pounds
• Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, water varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
• The job requires that you be able to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evenings and nights with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays

• At least 20/40 acuity (Snellen) in each eye with or without correction. At least 70° field of vision in horizontal meridian measured in each eye. The use of corrective lenses should be noted on the Medical Examiner's Certificate.
• No more than 40dB average hearing loss in better ear (with or without hearing aid).
