PCC Center is Hiring a Dolphin Swim Team - Head Coach Near Redwood, CA

Principal Objective
Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Program Manager, the Youth Aquatics Head Coach will create and lead our Youth Aquatics Swim Team program, directly oversee the coaching staff, and provide coaching expertise, wisdom, and best practices, ensuring all coaches, swimmers, and parents feel informed and safe in and around water. It is their primary responsibility to ensure the success of the Youth Aquatics program in alignment with PCC’s goals, mission, vision, and values. 
Principal Roles and Responsibilities
  • Team Leader: Lead the Youth Aquatics program team by directly assisting the Aquatics Director in planning and executing coaches training and certifications, providing weekly scheduling, assisting in hiring and supervising the team. Engage, equip and empower your Direct Reports to become leaders who develop leaders through living into the Center’s Mission, Vision and Values. Participate in weekly leadership meetings and plan weekly training as directed by the Programs Director. The Program Coordinator is the point person for the daily youth aquatics program needs.
  • Instructor: Help swimmers (ages 5-18) learn proper swimming technique. Learn every swimmer’s name and get to know them; be reliable, trustworthy, caring, and accepting; prioritize swimmer’s experience over personal issues; be fun and playful; give positive feedback often. Be specific and clear when giving progress reports and feedback to students and families. Know and implement the coaches handbook.
  • Student: Before starting job: complete necessary training for payroll, Red Cross Lifeguarding or Red Cross CPR, AED & First Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Mindbody, and eselfserve. Attend and participate in all meetings and trainings; strive to learn and grow both personally and professionally.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Certifications: certified Red Cross Lifeguard (or equivalent).
  • Experience: 18 years or older; strong swimming and/or water survival skills; lifeguard experience, 1 year of leadership on aquatics staff 
  • Schedule: Commit to working between 15 - 20 hours per week.
  • Physical Requirements: This job requires a person to be in the sun for the majority of the time spent working. Personal protective equipment for sun exposure is mandatory (sunscreen, shoes, hats, sunglasses, etc). Must be able to complete all rescue skills in the American Red Cross Lifeguard course at any point in time while working. This includes but is not limited to diving up to 12 ft under water, treading water for long periods of time, performing CPR, rescue breaths, in water spinal backboarding, and the use of an AED. Must be able to lift 30 pounds occasionally and 15-20 pounds often.
