PBT Acquisition is Hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator Near East Saint Louis, IL

2 Shifts Available:

Days: Monday through Friday - 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM or

Wednesday - Saturday 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM

PBT Acquisitions is looking for a qualified, skilled Loader Operator for our East St. Louis location. This is a skilled position in the operation of Heavy Equipment. The employee in this class is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a Wheel Loader with the ability to work to finish instructions with an emphasis on accuracy. Work is performed in accordance with the instructions received by a Lead Operator, and the employee is expected to carry out the assignments, free of direct supervision. The employee is responsible for the efficient assignment of equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance, or refer major problems to the supervisor at the first sign of trouble. This role is expected to perform other duties when there is no need for heavy equipment operation. Must have the ability to operate equipment safely and ensure maximum operating efficiency and be able to keep record of time spent and materials used. Ability to problem solve and focus on constant improvement are required.

Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a landfill for the purpose of transferring, spreading, covering, and loading material in an efficient and safe manner.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean. Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include: forklift, skidsteer, front-end loader and other equipment using proper safety standards.

Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean tracks or wheels on equipment, as needed.

Perform and document minor service on equipment, referring more complicated mechanical issues to Maintenance Shop for repair.

Complete Equipment Condition Report and other reports, as necessary; report any necessary repairs to supervisor, as needed.

Follow all required safety policies and procedures.

Ensure that shop is clean, serviced and stored at the completion of each shift.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED.

Two years’ prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.

One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.

Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.

Good follow through ability; ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise..

Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.

Maintains a feeling of pride in work; strives to achieve all goals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 48 per week
