Pawnee Mental Health Services is a private, not-for-profit community mental health center dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services to strengthen the wellness of our communities. Operating over 10 counties in North-Central Kansas, we provide a full range of psychotherapy, crisis, medication management, and substance abuse recovery services to over 7000 adults, adolescents, and children every year. Pawnee is the only provider in our service area who welcomes anyone in need of mental health services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year – regardless of their insurance, status as a client, or ability to pay. The Role You Play

The Medical Director provides clinical oversight to Pawnee Mental Health and fulfills the duties of a Medical Director as outlined in the Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) criteria. They will also be responsible for establishing protocols for coordination and integration with primary care services - fulfilling the CCBHC goal of providing integrated, whole person health services.

This position can be remote or on-site, and boasts a flexible schedule to be discussed upon offer.

  • Provide clinical oversight to the Medical Services program throughout Pawnee's 10 county area to ensure the viability, consistency, and continuity of quality services. 
  • Provide clinical oversight and review policies and procedures related to activities of the Medical Services program outside the Director of Medical Services' licensing scope.
  • Establish protocols that conform to screening recommendations for populations receiving services at risk for common physical health conditions. Protocol requirements includeidentifying clients with chronic illnesses, ensuring all clients are asked about physical health symptoms, and establishing systems for collection and analysis of laboratory samples for certain conditions as outlined in CCBHC requirements.
  • Become familiar with and adhere to all clinical standards, procedures and licensing regulations for Medical Services.
  • Oversee the development of specialized clinical services offered through the Medical Services program.
  • Assist in audits or reviews performed internally and by outside agencies as requested by the Quality Director.
  • Participate in Pawnee’s Continuous Quality Improvement plan when aspects apply to the quality of the medical components of care, including coordination and integration with primary care.
  • Provide medical and medication consultation to staff membersas necessary.
  • Maintain and advance knowledge and skills related to field of work through regular review of pertinent materials and attendance at training events.
  • Adhere to the standards, policies and instructions established by PMHS Policy and Procedure and any applicable ethical codes within field of employment. 
  • Review and comply with the Pawnee Code of Conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or the ChiefExecutive Officer.

Who You Are

Required:

  • Medical degree from an accredited program or a D.O.; with either degree must have completed appropriate psychiatric residencies.
  • Licensed with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
  • Basic personal computer skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.

Preferred:

  • Board certification.
  • Experience working with all age groups.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software.
