    Essential Functions:
    • Assists students with making course and subject selections and assists in the scheduling of classes.
    • Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff to meet the needs of individual student's, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with guidance services.
    • Assists with the registration and orientation of students who are new to the school regarding procedures and educational programming.
    • Serves as resource to students to provide counseling services that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
    • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the counseling and educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional development, professional meetings and/or by conducting research.
    • Keeps accurate and complete records.
    • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and their parents/guardians.
    • Ensures that student behavior conforms to school/district policies and establishes/maintains standards of student conduct needed to achieve an effective learning environment.
    • Coordinates with other staff members, participates in faculty meetings and attends professional development.
    • Selects appropriate learning material/instructional tools consistent with district curriculum.
    Additional Duties:
    • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).

    Travel Requirements:
    • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilites:
    • Knowledge of pre high school program requirements.
    • Knowledge of differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
    Qualifications:
    • Missouri Certification K-12 and/or K-8 as a Guidance Counselor.
    Education:
    • Provisional masters or masters degree from an accredited college or university.
