Pattison's Academy is Hiring a Special Instruction Coordinator (PT) Near Charleston, SC
Summary of Job: Are you a creative, organized and collaborative special education teacher looking to make an impact outside of the traditional classroom? We are looking for a special instruction coordinator to design and coordinate all of our adaptive, non-academic curriculum, enrichment and activities.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop curricula-correlated community based instruction, transition and vocational programs.
Work with state experts and resources (Able SC, Vocational Rehab) to develop and implement recommended programming.
Identify, implement and oversee onsite and offsite school-based and vocational activities.
Identify new community partners that will host us for community instruction and vocational programming. (both offsite and onsite)
Schedule and oversee specials including art, music, PE, horticulture.
Coordinate field trips.
Coordinate special onsite programming.
Train and collaborate with staff where applicable to execute planned activities.
Competencies:
Collaborates with teachers and therapists to maximize student participation with school vocational work and in the community.
Collaborate with teachers and therapists with regard to writing goals and objectives for vocational work and CBI trips.
Support, assist and delegate teacher assistant responsibilities regarding student tasks for CBI trips and in school vocational work.
Monitors and reports on student progress on CBI and vocational goals.
Sensitive to the instructional needs of individuals within a diverse group of children.
Follows all Pattison’s Academy policies and procedures.
Works closely and collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
Flexibility to the pace and needs of the children and the program.
Ensures compliance to all safety requirements.
Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Adapts to multiple, fluctuating timelines and multiple support personnel.
Required Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required, Experience with children with disabilities, preferred.
