Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Case Manager to assist Shelter Clients with housing and employment applications as well as provide Housing Navigation. The Case Manager will work with clients during the afternoon and evening hours to overcome barriers and provide support to residents in need. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with vulnerable populations, excellent negotiation skills, and a passion for helping others.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain knowledge of local rental landscape, landlord-tenant law and subsidized housing programs. Develop inventory of available rental units with application requirements.

- Negotiate housing programs and lease agreements with tenants

- Develop knowledge of supportive programs within the community, have the ability to identify resources and appropriately network for the needs of the public.

- Provide crisis intervention and support to residents in need.

- Assist clients with applications for employment, income applications, apartment applications, etc. Assist in preparation of program documents and maintain appropriate communication with fellow case managers.

- Oversee the implementation of programs and services to enhance resident well-being

- Case Manage Permanent Supportive Housing clients, inspect apartments and work toward client success.

- Maintain accurate records of all clients.

- Work in the Homeless Management Information System Database, with Coordinated Entry and accurate data collection.

Experience:

- Post High School Education and Training in related field or minimum of 4 years experience

- Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

- Familiarity with fair housing regulations and landlord-tenant law

- Computer knowledge: internet navigation, working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and other database programs and willingness to learn and utilize new programs.

- Understanding and expressed sensitivity of the low-income community, their needs and concerns, as well as resources available to assist them.

- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
