Summary of Role:

Pathfinder International is seeking an experienced Technical Communications and Legacy Manager for the anticipated USAID-funded Accelerating ChoiCe, Equity, and Sustainability for Services (ACCESS) project. The purpose of this project is to improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and related health outcomes among adolescents and youth and other underrepresented and underserved populations by advancing excellence, innovation, and best practices in service delivery.

The Technical Communications and Legacy Manager will be responsible for advancing the objectives of ACCESS by effectively communicating technical information externally through documentation and external engagements. This role involves managing technical communication activities, documenting project achievements and best practices, and ensuring knowledge transfer for sustainability beyond the project's lifespan.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Technical Implementation:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technical communications strategy to effectively communicate project objectives, activities, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Support in the designing and implementation of communication strategies and contribute to the implementation of strategic and project annual plans.
  • Liaise with technical teams and higher management to ensure timely completion of proposed strategies.

Development of Comprehensive Communication Resources: 

  • Coordinate the development and dissemination of technical reports, publications, and other communication materials, both internally and externally
  • Ensure timely developing, designing, and disseminating of project resources such a project briefs, communication briefs and other presentations.
  • Coordinate with the project teams to support in the development of strategic annual communication, marketing, and learning plans and enhance the visibility of the (ACCESS) project.
  • Communicate with project implementing partners and ensure timely completion/submission of required documents, materials, and reports for powerful storytelling.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and investment in special communications.

Project Support and Execution: 

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer activities to ensure the sustainability of project outcomes beyond the project's lifespan, including the development of training materials and resources.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify opportunities for knowledge exchange and learning events, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Works with the project team to develop presentations and briefs for various high-level forums such as monthly donor check-ins, high-level meetings, conferences, and seminars.

Documentation and Reports:

  • Lead the documentation of project achievements, best practices, and lessons learned, ensuring the creation of high-quality legacy materials.
  • Work with the Knowledge Management Officer for organized online archival for project resources, documents, and materials for easy and quick access to required documents.
  • Assist in preparing and updating project work plans, timelines, meeting notes, and capturing important project activities to further communicate through appropriate channels.

Required Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical communications or knowledge management, preferably in the context of international development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and editing technical reports, publications, and other communication materials.
  • Experience managing digital communication channels and using communication tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar software.
  • Strong understanding of technical communications principles and practices, with experience in developing and implementing communication and external engagement strategies for SRHR projects.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex technical information into clear and concise communication materials.
  • Experience in managing digital communication channels, including social media, and email newsletters.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English

Preferred Competence and Work Experience:

  • Master’s degree in communications, public health, or a related field.
  • Experience working with international donors, particularly USAID-funded projects.
  • Commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in all aspects of communication and project implementation.
  • Knowledge of USAID policies and procedures related to communication and knowledge management.
