Pascua Yaqui Tribe is Hiring a TGO Gaming Inspector 3 Specialist Near Tucson, AZ

The TGO Gaming Inspector 3 Specialist is the third step in the TGO (Tribal Gaming Office) Inspector series. The Gaming Inspector 3 Specialist will apply a specialized knowledge of Tribal Gaming Compact, Internal Controls and department policies and procedures. Incumbent in this class can expect to be assigned to any functional area within the TGO, including rotating job assignments, rotating shifts & varied work schedules.
  1. Monitor casino activities, employees, and customers to ensure compliance and accountability with all applicable gaming laws and regulations.
  2. Observe customers on gaming floor to ensure no cheating or illegal gambling activities; report violations as necessary.
  3. Perform inspections and observations.
  4. Conduct preliminary investigations of patron disputes, violations of policies and procedures, and/or violations of Compact provisions.
  5. Conduct employee background investigations.
  6. Draft reports to track and document incidents, inspections, investigations, statistics or other projects.
  7. Maintain and update computerized files and records.
  8. Assist in ensuring machine compliance through monthly audits, certifications and testing as needed.
  9. Assist in the review and approval process of regulatory compliance documents.
  10. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.

  • Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications, telephone, fax machine, scanners and adding machine;
  • Maintain electronic files and records;
  • Provide customer service;
  • Exercise judgment and discretion;
  • Prepare and proofread a variety of reports and/or documentation;
  • Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
Associate's Degree and five (5) years of TGO/Regulatory Gaming experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Equivalent experience may include positions where the applicant has worked in an oversight, compliance, and/or internal controls environment. Such experience would typically be gained through positions such as Compliance, Internal Auditing, Regulatory Review or similar type of work experience.
Special Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class III Gaming License;
  • May require Notary Certification depending on assignment;
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;
  • This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;
  • Must pass a background check and drug test. Note: Possession of a valid Class III Gaming License satisfies the background check requirement;
  • Must have a current State of Arizona Gaming License. Failure to maintain a current State of Arizona Gaming License will result in termination from this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA
FOR EXTERNAL CANDIDATES: After meeting the knowledge, essential skills, training and experience requirements, candidates are invited to take a scored written test and a scored oral board. The top 25% scoring candidates will be referred to the hiring Director for consideration. Tribal Indian Preference laws pertain in all cases.
FOR INTERNAL TGO CANDIDATES: Upon meeting the knowledge, essential skills, training and experience requirements, you become "eligible" for advancement** and may take the scored written test and oral board when offered. The top 25% scoring candidates will be placed on the "Eligibility List" for current or future advancement opportunities. The Eligibility Listing expires every nine (9) months and candidate rankings do not carry forward to a new list i.e. candidates must test again to maintain eligibility. In-service grade advancement is not automatic, is based on performance and the employee's ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, subject to budgetary considerations and the needs of the TGO.
****TGO employees that are currently under a written improvement plan and/or have been under a written improvement plan or demoted within 12 months of the date of application are ineligible for in-service grade advancement.
