Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to join their team. The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for processing payroll, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and payroll processing, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Manually process payroll for 300 employees on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring accuracy
- Maintain employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status
- Calculate and process deductions, such as taxes, benefits, and garnishments
- Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposits to employees
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues or errors
- Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment and changes
- Stay up to date with relevant tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with HR department to ensure accurate employee data and resolve any discrepancies
- Generate reports on payroll expenses, hours worked, and other relevant metrics
- Assist with Unemployment Insurance and Workers Compensation claims
- Perform other duties as assigned (office supplies and equipment orders, team meetings, etc…)
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should have the following skills:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Administrator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping
- Proficient in using payroll software (e.g., WinTeam) and MS Office applications (especially Excel)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing
- Familiarity with benefits administration processes is a plus
- An interest and desire to grow your skillset to be an engaged member of the company
