Partners In Health is Hiring a Remote Writer/Editor

Position Title: Writer/Editor
Reports to: SeniorDirector of Content
Location: Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S. or hybrid of these two options. Ability to travel domestically and overseas as needed (limited travel required, less than 10%).
Position Type: Full time


Position Overview:

The Writer/Editor will create fresh, inspiring content for use on various platforms, including the Partners In Health (PIH) website, blog articles, social media, and other marketing and communication materials. As part of the Marketing & Communications team, the Writer/Editor will participate in editorial planning and edit content from Marketing & Communications team members and PIH staff from across the globe.


Responsibilities:

Content production (60%)

  • Develop and write compelling content (including articles, scripts, listicles, infographics, podcasts, etc.) that grow PIH's awareness, engage diverse audiences, and grow the donor base to fuel our work and sustain our mission.
  • In conjunction with the Marketing & Communications team’s production calendars, set, adhere to, and enforce multiple deadlines.
  • Schedule and post copy to PIH website (www.pih.org), including photos and graphics, keeping up-to-date with the content Management System’s (CMS’s) latest updates.
  • Collaborate with others across the organization to collect, organize, and produce content for audience-specific materials, as needed.


Content editing (30%)

  • Partner with global Communications colleagues to gather, edit, and package information into compelling content for various platforms that is appropriate and appealing to a primarily U.S.-based audience.

Training (10%)

  • Mentor and train global Communications colleagues in identifying and developing story ideas and turning them into compelling pieces. May include travel to care delivery sites.
  • Support global Communications colleagues in building their care delivery site Communication teams.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience as a journalist or professional writer required
  • Proven ability to write and edit material across multiple platforms.
  • Proficiency in French, Spanish, and/or Creole a bonus.
  • Experience building strong relationships with sources.
  • Experience using social media platforms, particularly Facebook, X, and Instagram.
  • Working knowledge of website content management systems.
  • Familiarity with Associated Press style.
  • Understanding of and ability to clearly communicate topics related to global health and social justice a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestically and overseas as needed.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Exemplary communications skills; ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $60,000.00 and $75,000.00/year. The starting salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Full time employees will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 3 volunteer days in addition to paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, the week of July 4th, and 11 additional holidays annually.
