Research Assistant in the Cognition and Affect Research and Education (CARE) Laboratory
McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School
McLean Hospital is seeking a full-time, 2-year research assistant to start summer 2024 in the Cognitive and Affect Research and Education (CARE) lab under the supervision of Principal Investigator, Dr. Courtney Beard to assist with various studies. This position is ideal for post-bachelor training in clinical research and preparation to apply to PhD programs in clinical psychology, neuroscience, or medical school.
The CARE Lab conducts research to identify cognitive and affective mechanisms underlying emotional disorders, translate these findings into new treatments, and implement these treatments in real world settings. Many CARE Lab studies test new technology-driven treatments that focus on improving interpretation bias and other cognitive vulnerabilities. We incorporate our patients' perspectives to ensure treatments will be acceptable and helpful to people in real-world clinical settings. Ongoing projects include an NIMH-funded R01 testing the role of interpretation bias in the transmission of anxiety from parent to child, as well as trials of digital treatments for anxiety.
The RA may be responsible for the following activities: recruiting and screening potential study participants; facilitating participant completion of the study protocol; scheduling participants for study appointments; administering study procedures and tasks, including measures of anxiety and parenting behaviors; collecting and organizing participant data; maintaining and updating data generated by the study; performing preliminary statistical analyses; assisting with conference abstract submissions and manuscript preparation.
