Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and reliable Senior Investment Accountant to join our global Investment Accounting team in Stamford or Dublin. Candidates are sought who have a strong accounting and analytical background and are eager to continuously learn and improve their skills. Key role of the team is worldwide quarterly investment reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

The role provides the opportunity for making an important contribution to the Finance business area. We are looking to fill this role in the Reinsurance industry with someone who has a proactive personality, is self-driven and is able to easily grasp new concepts. The candidate must have strong analytical skills & an eye for detail; be comfortable responding to queries and presenting on behalf of the investment accounting team and have the ability to excel in a challenging and fast paced environment, thus contributing to the team`s and Company’s success.

About the role:

  • Participate in the monthly investment accounting close process by liaising with the third party administrator and investment operations team on a regular basis regarding proper recording of investment transactions.
  • Perform & review monthly reconciliations of third-party administrator reports to the general ledgers for various accounting bases.
  • Undertake periodic analysis of complex general ledger account balances and transactions for reasonableness and accuracy.
  • Prepare & review quarterly financial information, including supporting schedules for the Company’s Earnings Release, SEC filings, and internal reporting to the Audit Committee.
  • Coordinate and complete the Ultimate Parent Company’s periodic French GAAP reporting.
  • Contribute to overseas investment regulatory reporting requirements, especially Solvency II
  • Lead the accounting analysis for complex private equity investments including analysis and documentation under U.S. GAAP, IFRS and SEC rules.
  • Research new U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting literature related to investments, including assessing the impact on the Company’s periodic consolidated financial statements.
  • Provide internal and external audit support including preparation of documentation supporting financial internal controls and processes, including Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) documentation.
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests on various aspects of the group’s investment result from senior management, auditors and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive post-certification financial accounting experience.
  • Experience with U.S. GAAP and IFRS reporting requirements, including public and private debt and equity investments, foreign exchange and derivatives
  • Experience with SEC reporting rules and requirements
  • Knowledge of and experience with accounting for complex private equity deals, including evaluating and analyzing deal documents
  • Experience working with investment products, including bonds, bank loans, equities, foreign exchange, and derivatives
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and advanced use of Microsoft Office tools including advanced Excel
  • Experience with internal controls and processes documentation and testing, including SOX requirements
  • Professional accounting designation (CA or CPA)
  • Knowledge of Solvency II regulatory reporting requirements an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Clearwater Analytics investment accounting service providers an added advantage
  • Knowledge of French GAAP an added advantage
  • Well organized and self-confident person, able to work independently in a dynamic and international company as well as manage, prioritize and effectively meet deadlines
