Direct Support Professional

Currently seeking Direct Support Staff to work with a young man - 30 yrs old on the Autism Spectrum in Perkasie, PA. Looking for someone energetic who enjoys hiking/walking, a good sense of humor, can adapt quickly in various situations in the community and in the home. Typical daily tasks can vary day-to-day, but some examples would be helping with community safety skills, facilitating communication, money skills, some home chores, and spend time together in the home and/or community.

The schedule is flexible/part time, and will start with approximately ten (10) hrs/week (2 hrs/day, 5 days/week). The pay is $10-21 /hour, based on experience, with opportunity for expanded hours and pay increases to be decided based on mutual need and availability.

Mileage for work-related outings is reimbursed.

Duties include:

Assist with and actively participate in the implementation and progress of the outcomes in an Individual Service Plan (ISP).

Be able to anticipate and adapt to situations and surroundings to keep him safe.

Promote and assist to identify opportunities for socialization through entertainment that leads to the development of friendships with people of similar age.

Assistance with improving time management skills.

Complete daily documentation and reports.

Perform any reasonable function as requested by the individual, his family, or support team.

Must be active and able to keep up with the individual's energy.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18-years old.
• Strong work ethic
• 2 years’ experience as DSP preferred.
• Live within 15 miles of Perkasie, PA.
• Clear criminal background checks, which may include the PA Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Must be a mature, professional, and reliable individual who can conduct themself in all situations with respect and dignity. 
• Computer skills required.
• References required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 10 per week
