Description

Prepares clear, complete and accurate assembly and detail CAD mechanical engineering drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes following drafting standards. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in both 2D & 3D CAD software are essential for this job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Collaborates with engineers and production personnel to create accurate detailed models and drawings.

Takes CAD 3D models and produces final drawings, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another and relation of various parts to the assembly or project.

Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with cited specifications.

Maintain all revisions of drawings, drafting log, and drawing to part relationships.

Develop 3D models by analyzing existing parts, prototypes, and 2D drawings.

Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings.

Provides necessary specifications for costing of customer special product inquiries.

Ensures the correct and most recent revised engineering drawing is tied to the production item through the ERP system.

Generates detailed assembly and instruction manuals working with the engineer by extracting data from engineering drawings to create 2D and 3D drawings, schematics, and exploded views.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One-year certificate from technical school in CAD or ADDA Apprentice Mechanical Drafter or ADDA Certified Mechanical Drafter, required. Associate or bachelor's degree in drafting or pre-engineering preferred.

Experience or knowledge of sand casting, permanent mold casting, investment casting, machining, metal forming, welding, and plastic injection molding manufacturing methods preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency in AutoCad LT and Solidworks required. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Internet technologies. ERP system experience with EPICOR preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Good communication skills required. Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to communicate in person, through e-mail, phone, chat, and video conference required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certifications in both Auto-CAD LT and Solidworks highly recommended..
