Parkland USA is Hiring a Manager - Health, Safety & Environment Near Nampa, ID

Job Overview

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager is responsible for supporting Parkland’s Commercial and Retail teams to achieve Operational Excellence within their Regional Operating Center (ROC). This involves working in close partnership with operations leaders to put people first and to nurture a culture of safety and care that is consistent with Parkland’s values. To this end, the successful incumbent will maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization while providing governance over the Parkland Operational Excellence Management System (POEMS).

The incumbent plays an important role in helping our leaders carry out their HSE reporting, investigation, and improvement responsibilities while ensuring effective risk management and regulatory compliance across Parkland USA’s operations. This role also assists with emergency planning, drills and responses to critical events. This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position and is therefore subject to the Parkland USA Drug and Alcohol testing policy.

Location: Nampa, Idaho

Salary Range: Annually from $92,000 to $97,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works in partnership with regional managers, supervisors and frontline employees and vendors to monitor and improve workplace health & safety and environmental protection.
  • Provides in-field training, coaching and support to management and frontline employees to grow and sustain a culture of safety and care within the organization.
  • Develops, implements, and continuously improves POEMS within their respective ROC to improve performance, mitigate operational risks and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitates and conducts incident investigations with a bias towards achieving outcomes that promote organizational learning and continuous improvement of systems and practices.
  • Supports and participates in external / internal audits and assessment of POEMS.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5-7 years of HSE leadership experience within the Petroleum and / or Retail industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of OH&S, Environment or STEM (or a combination of equivalent education and experience).
  • Currently hold (or working towards) professional certification - such as CSP, CIH, NEBOSH.
  • Working knowledge of safety, health, environmental and transportation regulations and standards (OSHA, HAZMAT, DOT, ANSI, NFPA).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Strong orientation towards teamwork balanced with the ability to work independently.
  • Adept at developing and delivering training and awareness programs.
  • Effective verbal & written communication skills – English language is essential
  • Must have current driver’s license and be available to travel frequently (approximately 60%) within the Parkland USA Region and to other locations as required.
