The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer provides technical advanced manufacturing and processing engineering expertise for automation and supports goals of improved safety, quality and productivity in the operations. Ensures timely and efficient completion of detailed engineering project phases or major projects to achieve division objectives. Plans, schedules and coordinates efforts of the engineering staff or acts as an individual researcher or functional expert on specific projects with significant customer and business impact. Will have indirect or matrix responsibility to guide the technical work of a high performance team to achieve project milestones in the division.

  • Advance next-generation manufacturing techniques across the business, focusing on automation, additive manufacturing, and process design, while providing support for both self-initiated research and customer-driven projects to meet expectations and goals.
  • Support a mix of self-initiated research and customer focused projects. This includes responding to our customers' needs by developing new process methodologies and technologies to meet or exceed customer expectations and internal goals.
  • Mentor engineers in advanced manufacturing concepts, ensuring the growth of technical leadership and future success within the engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with customers, sales, marketing, and product management teams, and manage administrative tasks including report writing, status updates, and recommendations for purchasing advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements. Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
  • Lead negotiations with divisions/customers to define project specifications, timelines, and performance targets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in corporate forums, ensuring the deployment of cutting-edge equipment and processes, and manage complex manufacturing engineering projects from proposal to completion, ensuring adherence to schedule and cost outcomes.
  • Oversee project logistics by assigning resources, conducting technical and cost analyses, maintaining schedules, controlling costs, and staying updated with professional knowledge, while ensuring compliance with legal standards and contributing to team efforts.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, Master's degree preferred. Must have a minimum of 7-10 years of industry experience in manufacturing of hydraulic products and systems including both low and high volume/high mix components and systems.
  • Society of Mechanical Engineering certification desired.
  • In-depth knowledge of state of the art manufacturing equipment, including practical application in real-world manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge of 6-sigma methods and design of experiments. Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and production engineering theories, principles, practices, techniques and concepts and broad knowledge of other related engineering areas and general business operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with systems integrators and equipment suppliers.
  • Ability to apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas to own areas of expertise. Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing plants. Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems. Ability to apply drafting and related machining systems to make recommendations for improved productivity.
  • Ability to work on complex technical problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors, solve a wide range of difficult problems in creative and effective ways, and coordinate across multiple teams. Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical policies and recommend changes to procedures; effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management; respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to negotiate effectively to obtain best prices and terms on products, materials, and services.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
  • Possess excellent communication skills (e.g., the development/delivery of presentations to technical and nontechnical audiences) and teambuilding skills for leading HPT and working with Division project teams. Have strong interpersonal skills and be able to operate effectively across business functions, company structure and be able to work effectively with customer contacts.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $$113,579 - $198,823
