Parker Americas Inc. is Hiring a Chemist Near Kansas, MO

General Summary:

Conducts research, material and product analysis, epoxy-based adhesive and polymer-based compound development, experimentation on novel technology and product development, for such purposes process development and application development, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and improvement of product testing and methodologies by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Involved in all aspects of R&D activities of epoxy-based compounding for materials in the plant (Including new product innovation, cost improvements, process efficiencies, and quality issues).

2. Involved in all aspects of R&D activities of polymer/rubber base compounding for materials in the plant. Conducts research on available manufactured automotive products to develop novel and improved products.

3. Analyzes organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties, using FTIR, TGA/DSC, spectroscopic, rheological methodologies and other specific methodologies.

4. Devises new equipment, and develops formulas, processes, and methods for solving technical problems.

5. Involved in product testing and certifications to major automotive manufacturer’s product standards.

6. Comprehensively involved in experimentation of heat cured epoxy-based compounds and rubber/epoxy- based compound development, cure cycle improvements, catalyst system development, adhesive substrate development into automotive applications.

7. In frequent contact with outside vendors, customers, and internal research and development groups.

8. Performs job responsibilities in compliance with ISO/TS 16949; ISO 14001; and OHSAS 18001.

9. Prepare reports, presentations based on conducted research, material composition, structure/property relationships, material characteristics etc.

10. Prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.

11. Analyzes future new products trend, create new business opportunity by developing new products, new technologies and new processes.

12. Must be able to travel domestically or internationally if necessary.

13. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university with either Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Chemical engineering, or related majors; or graduate degree with similar majors.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a similar industry.
  • Familiar with current products function and raw chemicals performance.
  • Ability to lead and train new R&D members for various R&D activities.
  • Be able to multitask various major development projects, including identifying goals, setting up task list, make timeline, etc.
  • Being comfortable for hands on experiments and tests, being comfortable for trying new ideas even without supervision or request.
  • Good understanding of current products’ composition, chemistry, each ingredient’s functions, and each ingredient’s critical performance, how they interact with each other, how they contribute to/affect the final performance, etc.
