Park University is Hiring a Head Womens Softball Coach - Gilbert Near Gilbert, AZ

Head Women’s Softball Coach is responsible for planning and implementation of a Women’s Softball program in which each participant is provided with a significant educational experience. Coach is expected to work with staff to develop quality student-athletes, foster institutional values, build the program and campus, and create a positive culture and image.
Position Accountabilities
  • Student recruitment and readiness
Scout and recruit quality student-athletes who fit the culture of the University and program with a high probability of athletic and academic success. Arrange and oversee all campus visitations and travel itineraries, as well as supervise all correspondence with prospects, coaches, parents, alumni, etc., including mailings and responses.
Lead recruits through the admissions and enrollment process working with Enrollment and Student Services. Lead recruits through NAIA eligibility and compliance process working with Assistant Director of Athletics.
Utilize University tools to ensure visibility to recruitment funnel and incorporation of and/or hands offs appropriate Enrollment Student Services staff members
  • Training and Development
Use expert technical knowledge of Women’s Softball to develop and coach a successful program, including the development of high quality student-athletes, organizing and supervising practice, conditioning, and workouts, overseeing home events and managing travel for away events, supervising staff, and demonstrating athletic excellence.
Work closely with the athletic training staff to ensure the safety and health of student-athletes.
  • Athletic Program Operations, Leadership and Culture
Knowledge of and commitment to all NAIA, Cal Pac conference, and University regulations, policies, and procedures. Report any known or suspected NAIA violations to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance, Director of Athletics, or Faculty Athletics Representative. Violation of NAIA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or correction action up to, and including termination of employment. Work closely with the Director of Compliance to complete required compliance paperwork in a timely fashion.
Establish a leadership/mentor role among student-athletes, assistant coaches, and other supportive staff while promoting sportsmanship and responsible behavior both during and outside of athletic competition.
  • Student Academics, Retention and Conduct
Ensure excellence in academics from student-athletes working closely with Academic Student Support Services. Monitor individual student-athlete’s academic performance, encourage and enforce athletic department practices and policies related to Academic performance including but not limited to referral to appropriate University academic resources.
Establish and ensure communication and enforcement of Park University Gilbert, Athletic Department, and team regulations regarding student conduct, appearance, and behavior.
  • Public Relations and Fundraising
Perform public relations duties and activities with faculty, students, parents, contributors, alumni, and University administrators. Promote respective sport at a local, state, and national level. Participate in fundraising activities as appropriate.
Build relationship, plans and events to friend and fund raising for program and University.
  • Program Operations
Coordinate the athletic program. Manage program procedures. Coordinate the preparation of program budget. Make budgetary recommendation to Athletic Director. Implement budget management and control.
  • Other Duties as assigned
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in coaching with at least three being at the college level.
  • Commitment to student-athlete welfare and academic success.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to all NAIA and University rules.
  • Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to travel on behalf of the University is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for potentially long periods of time for practices and games
  • Ability to navigate the elements including potentially high temperatures in the fall
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet qualification for operating a University Vehicle.
