Pariser Dermatology Specialists has been providing dermatology services to the Hampton Roads community for over 75 years. Today, Pariser Dermatology Specialists has seven locations across Hampton Roads and is one of the largest independent dermatology practices in the country.

We have an open position in our Norfolk office for a Prior Authorization Coordinator. The Prior Authorization Coordinator is responsible for handling the authorization process for prescription medications.

Responsibilities:

• Initiate Prior Authorization requests to insurance carriers.
• Communicate with patients, pharmacies, insurance companies, pharmaceutical reps, etc.
• Maintain communication with the clinical staff regarding patient care throughout the prior authorization process.
• Maintain records and support documents.
• Follow-up on authorization requests in a timely fashion.
• Maintain proper documentation in practice management system/electronic health record such as patient coverage, benefits and eligibility results.

Qualifications:

• Two years previous related experience in health care setting required.
• Understanding of insurance/prescription coverage and prior authorization process
• Ability to identify problems including complex issues and determine solutions, both independently and or in a team/group setting.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good time management skills; ability to prioritize daily workflow.
• Should be compassionate and understanding in dealing with patients.
