Paramount Staffing is Hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Manager Near Montgomery, IL

General Overview:

The EHS Manager is responsible for the planning, directing, and the sustainment of the organization’s Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and programs to ensure the safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors. This includes but is not limited to the protection of the environment and maintaining compliance with global and local regulations for the Montgomery, Illinois facility.

Basic Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must have 5 or more years of experience implementing and administering EHS standards, and programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have 5 or more years of working directly with governmental agencies including but not limited to OSHA, USEPA, IEPA, IEMA, IDPH, Local Health Departments, Fire Deptartments & Emergency Planning Agencies, and Local POTWs (Publicly Owned Treatment Works).
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cultural change across an organization; experienced in leveraging multiple approaches to helping people adopt and implement controlled sustained change.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading continuous improvement activities and programs, leveraging processes, tools and best practices.

· Proven track-record for implementing strategies that enhance a safe culture while balancing needs for productivity and profitability.

  • Related post-education training, certifications such as CIH, and CSP is preferred.
  • Budget/cost management; strategic planning and leadership experience required.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Skype for Business, etc.).
  • Must be able to respond to urgent or emergency situations outside of normal working hours as needed.
  • Must have shift flexibility to accommodate a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Daily responsibilities may require working on elevated surfaces, climbing stairs/ladders, kneeling, bending, squatting, stooping, lifting to 30 pounds, crawling under equipment, wearing fall protection and required PPE.
  • Ability to work in year-round indoor/outdoor conditions.
  • Standing/walking for extended periods of time.
  • Sitting for periods of time working in front of a computer screen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, deploy, and monitor all EHS programs, procedures, policies, and standards in a manner that ensures compliance to Federal, State, Local, Customer, and align with company strategic requirements.
  • Provide focus, direction, leadership, and technical expertise to the various tactical teams (Plant Safety Teams; High Risk Teams - Ergonomic, Electrical Protection, Fall Protection, Mobile Equipment, Guarding, Storm/Waste Water Pollution Prevention & permitting, Air Emissions monitoring, compliance & permitting, Company, Behavioral-Based Safety Training Team, and Manufacturing Hygiene Compliance Team.)
  • Develop, implement, and administer an internal EHS hazard/risk assessment and compliance auditing process
  • Develop and administer a root cause analysis procedure/process designed to reveal and capture intellectual wisdom from all near miss and/or failure occurrences.
  • Communicate post incident / near miss findings (written/verbal: Incident Flash; Detailed Incident Investigation; and phone / net conferences).
  • Develop, implement, and institutionalize a process to identify and eliminate high risk occurrences through review of historical incident data; leading indicators; plant, process, and equipment safety and environmental audits; job and activity observations; and highly specified JSA’s
  • Stimulate and cultivate “a zero-incident mentality” throughout the organization.
  • Proactively manage the administration of Workers Compensation benefits, case management, and cost containment measures.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all environmental reports
  • Assess and evaluate plant EHS connections and make recommendations to Operations leadership regarding strategies to remedy training, skills, or performance deficiencies.
  • Partner with Operations Leadership at multiple levels to ensure alignment and support of EHS compliance and improvement activities.
  • Participate in the annual Capital planning process with Operations to ensure EHS projects are properly identified, prioritized, and funding requested.

· Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting EHS functions.

· Promote the interests of the company via encouraging teamwork among other business units within the company.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
