JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller (AC) position is responsible for analyzing P&L/financial data and other operating information to assist the Company in achieving its financial targets. Develops reports and assists in monitoring progress against budget and prior year performance. Assists Controller in conducting studies and developing recommendations.

The AC is a critical thinker who champions profitability and has a successful track record of
building analytical frameworks used to inform business development and business strategies.
This role will work with our finance, business development and operations teams to ferret out issues and make business solutions recommendations.

Ideal candidates are creative problem solvers! He/she has exceptional Excel skills, can contemplate impacts beyond standard assumptions, has an unmatched eye for detail, and can work independently in a deadline driven environment.

This position is based in Herndon, Virginia and will have in-office days with a remote days allowance.

Core Duties include:

• Work with team leads of various functions identifying routines cross functions and special projects in the areas of financial analysis and reporting, business processes and system implementation;
• Reports, analyzes, and interprets financial and operating data for management, including cost analysis, market niche reporting, profitability analysis, regional performance assessments, contract pricing analysis and wage analysis, and other ad-hoc analysis as directed.
• Provides in-depth analysis and interpretation of financial data to monitor and report on progress of the Company and its profit centers compared to business plan targets.
• Analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred to project future revenues and expenses. Identifies and communicates loss trends.
• Assists in the development of sector/department office reporting requirements and metrics, and in the design and development of workflow processes.
• Generates and distributes system reports and assists management in their utilization; may oversee or assist with information systems projects and/or ongoing operations.
• May perform field office visits to analyze operations, conduct audits, and recommend business solutions to management.
• Performs additional functions, duties and specific tasks of a similar nature and scope as necessary in order to achieve assigned business objectives.
