Paragon Industries, Inc. has been manufacturing high-quality steel pipe for over 40 years. Our business has evolved into a diverse product line, which includes pipe for the Mechanical, Fire Protection, Line, OCTG, and Construction applications.

The Machine Shop Worker produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine and manual milling machines as required; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; and maintaining equipment and supplies. The priority of this operation is to process parts to keep plant operations running. This position is available in Full Time or Part Time.

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, steel toed work boots, hearing protection and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

• A High School diploma or GED equivalent and/or work experience to perform the functions of the job.
• Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
• Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate machines and hand tools, ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements.
• Proficient use of precision measuring instruments such as, but not limited to calipers and micrometers
• Must own tool box and machinist tools, such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, setup blocks & parallels, steel rules, tap handles, reference books, and basic hand tools adequate for machine setup and routine maintenance
• Strong mechanical understanding and background including mechanical theory, principles and practice, rolling bearing use, tolerances, and applications is recommended
• CNC experience and programming is a plus.
• Must be able to lift and carry, push and pull 50 pounds.

• Machining and repairing various parts and equipment using manual lathes and mills
• Accurately take measurements of equipment and worn parts for repair and replacement
• Read and understand technical drawings, assembly schematics, and part prints
• Operate CNC machines, Manuel machines, Milling machines, drill lathes, drilling machines and presses and other machines in a machine shop environment.
• Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output.
• Set controls and regulated speed, feed, coolant flow and angle of cut.
• Identify machine malfunctions and inform Manager of any issues that affect production of a quality product.
• Compare numerical displays with process sheet data to verify dimensional adjustments as required.
• Manipulate dials, switches override program and correct machine performance.
• Ensure specifications compliance of first run piece and spot check succeeding pieces.
• Verify machine settings and program control data for accuracy and quality.
• Ensure dimensions of finished work pieces are in conformance to specifications.
• Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
• Update cutting programs for problems encountered during operation.
• Daily maintenance checks as required.

All other duties as assigned by management.
