Marketing & Communications Multimedia Specialist

Location: District Administrative Center

12 months, 8 hours/day

Exempt Position

Salary Range: $53,881.00 - $70,862.00

Start Date: 7/03/2023

The Marketing & Communications Multimedia Specialist (Videographer/Photographer) is responsible for the end-to-end production of multimedia deliverables, which align with the overall objectives of the Marketing and Communications Department’s goals, and helps promote and market the Paradise Valley Unified School District.

This job reports to Director of Marketing and Communications.

Essential Functions

Researches, coordinates and develops all written and/or verbal (voice over) video scripts based upon project/campaign objectives.

Works closely with the Marketing and Communications team, as well as various district personnel on a daily basis including teachers, students, administrative staff to coordinate and create videos and/or photography for a variety of district initiatives (including district and/or school events) that support and are in direct alignment with the Department’s goals and objectives.

Utilizes strong interviewing skills with teachers, students and administrators, as necessary, for the purpose of developing multi-media content. 

Provides post-production of all District multimedia assets including video, photographs, graphics and animations.

Catalogs all photos and videos on district central repository to enable our district of schools to use district-approved resources to help market and promote their schools effectively.

Develops best practices for multimedia standards for district-wide use and reviews and makes any necessary modifications on an annual basis.

Researches, recommends and deploys the use of digital tools to help enable schools to produce multimedia content that is on brand.

Manages PVSchools video studio, which includes lighting set-up, equipment operation and oversees technical direction of video streaming for live production.

Manages and coordinates multimedia needs for bimonthly governing board meetings including photography of award recipients and video as deemed necessary.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Adobe Creative cloud (Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, Media Encoder, Lightroom), Google Docs, Microsoft Office. MAC operating system monitoring and troubleshooting software; adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records. Must also be able to operate Sony and Canon DSLR cameras for photos and videos (including flash photography). Must be familiar with lighting for field, studio, interview and green screen scenarios. Must be knowledgeable in audio recording, wireless microphone use, field recording using shotgun microphones, and incorporating live audio feeds from venue sources. Must possess interviewing skills.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: videography, photography, sound recording, digital editing, document editing, content management, digital file conversion, web publishing, audio/video streaming, etc.; strong verbal, written, multimedia, interpersonal, creative, analytical problem solving and interpersonal skills.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of

circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and utilize equipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: setting priorities; establishing effective relationships; being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups; conveying technical information to non-technical audiences; work in flexible shifts, including but not limited to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays; working nonstandard hours.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

Experience: Experience creating marketing videos in education is preferred.

Job related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

A minimum of 5 years working in video production is required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Equivalency: Preferred Bachelors Degree in Multimedia, Communications and Media Production.
