Purpose Statement
The District Tiered Support Specialist is charged with improving classroom instructional practices in ways that enhance students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development. The District Tiered Support Specialist provides leadership and direction at the district level, working to support schools as they design, implement, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive behavior support program.
This job reports to the Director of Student Services - Elementary.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: ADE School Psychologist Certification, Teacher license and/or teacher experience beneficial.
EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of developing and/or implementing functional-based assessments and child and adolescent development, experience working within schools, direct teacher support and understanding of special education law preferable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general written material, professional journals, and state and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, behavior plans, behavior goals, correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information regarding evaluations. Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of educators, parents or general public.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Experience: Job related experience is desired.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a job-related area.
