POSITION OVERVIEW

Paradigm currently has an opening for two (2) full-time culturally competent Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to provide services at the Indian Health Services Great Plains Reginal Drug Dependency Unit in Winnebago, Nebraska.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

One (1 ) year contract with an option to extend contract for up to four additional years (depending on performance)

START DATE

August 5, 2024

HOURS OF PERFORMANCE

  • Normal workdays are Sunday through Saturday.
  • Assignments will require shifts of no less than eight (8) hours and no more than twelve (12) hours.
  • These shifts may rotate any time during the twenty-four (24) hour period for a total of 80-84 hours in a two-week period.
  • Holidays and weekends will be included as part of the 80–84-hour work period.
  • Schedule will be determined by the On-site Supervisor or designee.
  • The Great Plains Area Regional Drug Dependency Unit operates 24 hours/day, 365 days/year typically and staff are expected to be available according to the departmental shift schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct patient care and support.
  • Ensure compliance with all health requirements set forth by Indian Health Services, including vaccinations and screenings.
  • Identify medical conditions requiring treatment and coordinate patient transfers to higher-level care facilities when necessary.
  • Assess the physical and psychosocial health status of patients and families, considering growth and development patterns and health conditions that require medical management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceuticals to recognize desired effects, side effects, and potential complications.
  • Manage stressful situations with emotional control, tact, patience, and reliability to provide urgent patient care.
  • Provide individual and family counseling, guidance, and health instruction to promote disease prevention and overall well-being.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of experience (within past four (4) years) with direct patient care.
  • Valid BLS, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • Cultural sensitivity training is preferred, especially with Native American populations (On-line courses will be provided).
  • Proof of vaccinations and compliance with all health requirements are required when applying for position (Vaccination exemption certificates must be provided when applying for position).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
