Site Supervisor for construction work on military bases.
The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for the full-time on-site safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, training, and safety enforcement. The Superintendent is responsible for the site performance, schedule, and client communication. This is a dual hat position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide site compliance through daily site inspections and daily safety reports
• Development and/or review of Accident prevention plan, AHAs and crane and rigging plans
• Provide onsite safety education to subcontractors
• Coordination of safety issues with the Quality Control Manager
• Provide management and oversight of site specific safety activities. Examples – Crane Lift Plan, abatement, lockout/tag out activities, etc.
• Prioritization of daily tasks to maintain safety compliance and project schedule
• Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports
• Ensure sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements
• Provide 1st day site safety orientations for all new employees
• Maintain applicable safety reference materials on the job site
• Maintain current SDS (MSDS) list of hazardous chemicals on site
• Prepare monthly contractor safety self-evaluation checklist
• Maintain daily sign in sheet for employees, subs, and visitors
• Work with PM to keep 3-week look aheads updated and keep project on overall schedule
• Work with QC to ensure Daily Reports are submitted on time
• Coordinate inspections
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years as a QC Manager, Safety Manager, Superintendent or similar position with the same scope and responsibilities as described.
• Demonstrate knowledge of federal government production reports as it pertains to each project
• Must be able to communicate effectively with various government entities (our clientele)
• Able to pass background check and drug screen
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
• Current OSHA 30 Hour Construction
• CQC/SSHO Certification desired
• Prior experience working as a federal contractor in the construction industry or working with federal agencies as a client on construction projects.
• Strong construction estimating skills with a demonstrated ability to complete projects on time within budget
• Ability to multi-task, problem solve, and lead project to completion
