The ideal candidate is an excellent manager and coach with strong organizational and administrative abilities. A sweet tooth and passion for Levain's products and culture are a must!
What you'll do:
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive work environment for everyone who works at Levain; our people are at the core of our success, both supporting one another and genuinely enjoying the time they spend together. As we grow, maintaining that sense of community is incredibly important!
  • Coach and develop team members, helping to identify and address areas of improvement as well as cultivating high-potential team members; partner with Human Resources as necessary.
Provide administrative support to the General Manager as needed, including assisting with weekly scheduling, payroll, inventory, purchasing, and vendor management.
  • Ensure all Department of Health food and safety standards are met and establish action plans for sanitation, shop scores, and DOH inspections.
  • Problem-solve and work alongside the team during peak hours, filling in where most needed.
  • Lead by example through modeling exceptional customer service, maintaining extensive, thorough product knowledge (including allergen information), and assisting with delivery fulfillment.
What we're looking for:
  • 1-3 years of prior supervisory experience in a food/beverage environment.
  • Food Handler's License required.
  • Prior experience managing people on multiple shifts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft systems required.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Resilient, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work, days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends as dictated by seasonal or business needs.
  • Appreciation for and an ability to positively resolve issues arising from personnel with different backgrounds.
  • Passion for what you do - you love both the people and business sides of the food industry and are great at thinking through both challenges and opportunities in either area.
  • Adaptability and flexibility - you recognize that in the food industry, anything can - and will - happen and you're able to calmly troubleshoot issues.
  • Eye for detail - you understand how to break down larger goals into day-to-day action and are inherently meticulous and strategic.
  • Collaborative spirit and commitment to Levain's core values - you're a team player and willing to lend a hand or elevate those around you and you're the first to jump in if extra help is needed in either the front of back-of-house.
  • You add your own individuality to an already positive and uplifting work environment. A good sense of humor doesn't hurt either!
Compensation:
  • $65,000 - $72,000 per year plus 15% Quarterly Bonus Potential
Benefits:
  • Health, Vision, Dental Insurance
  • Employer-funded Healthcare Reimbursement Account
  • Additional supplemental benefits: Commuter/Bike-Share Benefits, Employee Assistance Program, 14 Weeks Fully Paid Parental Leave, etc.

About Us:
Competitive triathletes and passionate bakers, Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald left their careers to open a small bread shop in New York City in 1995 - Levain Bakery.
One day, they baked a BIG chocolate chip walnut cookie as energy for triathlon training. At Levain, a batch of these 6-ounce cookies flew off the shelves, and an icon was born. The cozy shop on West 74th Street became a neighborhood favorite and a destination for epicurious visitors from around the world, hungry for "the cookie."
From the start, Pam, Connie and team baked everything fresh on-site each day, donating the day's leftovers to charity - and we still do, nearly 30 years later. Today, Levain has bakeries across the country (with more to come!), plus ecommerce gift boxes to treat cookie lovers in every state.
Every day, we strive to embody our company's five core values:
  • Welcome All- we are all in it together
  • Work Hard and Be Nice- we go above and beyond
  • Lead with Heart- we do the right thing
  • Rise Up- we are proactive
  • Savor It- we are present and find the fun!
