What You'll Do
  • Responsible for researching and applying knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions
  • Utilizes data analytics to improve understanding of what has happened (descriptive analytics), why it happened (diagnostic analytics) and what may happen (predictive analytics)
  • Deals with a variety of complex and diverse analytic problemsand provides solutions that help management with decisions that have a positive impact on the organization
  • Creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets
  • Acquires data, cleans and organizes it for analysis, and analyzes the data to identify trends and patterns in order to derive conclusions or insights to make predictions
  • Transforms data into compelling visuals and dashboards used to communicate key metrics and inform strategic business decisions
  • Identifies positive and negative performance trends, including leading indicators to accurately depict organizational health, recognizing scenarios or trigger events where repeat events (positive or negative) are likely to occur
  • Collects data across databases, systems, data analysts, etc. and performs analysis to identify emerging trends, resolve performance issues, and improve operational eciency/eectiveness

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree: Minimum 2 years relevant experience;typical relevant experience ranging from 4 to 7 years
  • OR Master's degree: Minimum 1 yearrelevant experience; typical relevant experience ranging from 4 to 7 years
  • Ten or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
Preferred Job Requirements
  • Degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline
  • Microsoft Excel skill level: Advanced to Expert
  • Experience in the Lab Information Management System (LIMS) software desired
  • Experience in Material Data Management (MDM) software desired
  • Experience in a chemistry laboratory flow process
  • Experience with Tableau, Python, R, Microsoft Access, SAP, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), V B.Net, SQL, Java, JavaScript
  • Ability to understand process impacts upstream and downstream
  • Ability to interpret data and transform into useful metrics and visualizations
  • Ability to understand the unique variables affecting each organization in order to deliver meaningful data tailored to each organization

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
