Position Overview:
The Post-Purchase Underwriter is responsible for reviewing closed loan documents, obtaining documentation to satisfy investor requirements, and providing appeals to investors in designated timeframes to ensure salability. Communication and diplomacy skills are required to successfully negotiate resolutions with investors. The Post-Purchase Underwriter must have an in-depth understanding of loan program guidelines and mortgage regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Education/Experience:
Five years of underwriting experience in mortgage banking and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of mortgage principles and theories
Understanding of TILA, RESPA and Predatory Lending
Strong analytical and decision making/problem solving skills.
Possess a keen eye for accuracy, attention to detail and ability to handle a high-volume workload.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, prioritization and time management skills
Proficient in computers including LOS systems, Microsoft Office, and Excel. Ability to adapt/ learn/utilize multiple software programs. Experience with paperless environment preferred.
Ability to deliver effective results and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Self-starter, adaptable to a changing environment, and have ability to communicate and work well with others.
Possess clear, concise, and effective written and oral communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of credit scoring, analytical problem-solving and negotiation skills.
Professional demeanor in appearance, interpersonal relations, work ethic and attitude
Timely communication and response times according to department standards
Travel:
As needed travel internationally between United States and Mexico to meet business needs.
Language:
English required, Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) desired.
