2nd Shift Specialty Resins Quality Control Technician

Panolam Surface Systems, a leader in manufacturing of decorative surfaces, is currently seeking a motivated and driven Quality Control Technician _ for Specialty Resins_ to join our team!

JOB DESCRIPTION

The QC Technician role is a critical lab-based position within the Specialty Resins Manufacturing Operation. This position is responsible for the monitoring, testing, evaluation and inspection of chemical raw materials and products at various stages of the manufacturing process. This position will require independent evaluation of test data to guide in-process adjustments and ensure final product specifications are met. This position works closely with and frequently communicates test results to the production operating team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform tests on incoming raw materials such as specific gravity, refractive index, water content, viscosity, non-volatiles, color.

- Perform in-process tests on outgoing commercial products such as weighing, acid/ base titrations, viscosity measurement, color.

- Chart in-process product test data and make calculated decisions to meet required specifications and communicate in-process material adjustments with production team.

- Prepare catalysts and other critical additives for commercial products.

- Prepare lab reagents.

- Work safely with solvents, corrosives, toxics and high temperature materials.

- Document test data within data management system.

- Generate accurate certificate of analyses.

- Monitor batch reactor control systems thru HMI interface

- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.

- Keep management informed of all quality results and issues.

- Work overtime as required to ensure lab functions are covered.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND NECESSARY TO PERFORM JOB TASKS

• Education Requirements and Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-year science-based degree with lab experience. If no degree, then a minimum of 3 years experience in a QA/QC lab environment preferred.

Job Requirements:

Excellent math and analytical skills with the ability to execute basic up to algebraic computations. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Strong organizational skills and highly detail oriented. Ability to multitask under time constraints. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Ability to work in a team environment and present information and instruction to internal personnel

This position is a full time position. This is 2nd shift position based on department needs. Some overtime required.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.74 per hour
