The problem: Every minute matters in fire response. As climate change amplifies the intensity of wildfires-with longer fire seasons, dryer fuels, and faster winds-new ignitions spread faster and put more communities at risk. Today, most wildfires are detected by bystanders and reported via 911, meaning it can take hours to detect a fire, verify its exact location and size, and dispatch first responders. Fire authorities need a faster way to detect, confirm, and pinpoint fires so that they can quickly respond-preventing small flare-ups from becoming devastating infernos.
About Pano: Pano is a venture-backed early-stage climate tech startup that is the leader in wildfire early detection, leveraging the latest advancements in IoT, AI, satellites, and SaaS software to deliver actionable intelligence to customers. Pano leverages mountaintop cameras and satellites to detect the first traces of smoke and put real-time fire images in the hands of asset owners and first responders to speed up containment. Role overview
Pano is looking for a great intern to help our Operations team meet their objective of identifying, installing, and running a network of fire detection cameras this summer. Our ideal candidate will be a true team player that is adaptable, self-motivated, and able to work in a highly active work environment.
Reporting to our Operations team you will be part of a group of professionals that has the unique challenge of deploying cameras throughout the western United States. To accomplish our mission we will look to our interns to provide meaningful support as they learn Operations at Pano. In addition, we expect our interns to find an area of personal importance and develop and present a project that improves our processes. This is an opportunity for a qualified candidate to gain hands-on experience in a successful, fast-paced startup environment, all while working on a meaningful and urgent problem.
What you'll do

• Learn and execute viewshed analysis.
• Support the production and testing of our systems before customer shipment.
• Assist with analysis and reporting of both system and component performance
• Support the Pano Intelligence Center and develop procedures and processes that improve the delivery of this service
• Participate in the installation process and assist with post-installation activities
• Support the ongoing maintenance of the existing systems
• Ability to travel domestically as needed (0 to 25% at times)

• Superior organizational skills and time management abilities, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities at the same time
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to work independently and with others. Bachelor's degree underway in Business or Technology required, Masters preferred
