PanCare Health in Panama City, FL is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician to provide direct vision care to patients under the supervision of a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist. The role involves collaborating with clinic staff to develop and implement vision programs for clinic success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides technical services to assigned patients and assists optometrist
• Takes patient history.
• Conducts visual acuity screenings.
• Performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry.
• Administering medication as directed by optometrist.
• Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids the optometrist during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
• Observes, records, and reports patients condition and reaction to drugs and treatment to optometrist.
• Maintains timely flow of patients.
• Greets patients and prepares them for optometrist examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
• Arranges for patients testing and information.
• Formulates and updates patient care plans. Orders, prepares, and inspects patients’ charts. Posts tests and examination results.
• Responsible for preparation of exam rooms including re-stocking of treatment areas.
• Participates in CLIA and OSHA compliance and monitoring.
• Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
• Monitors emergency kit and oxygen tanks as required.
• Monitors and maintains supplies and medication closet.
• Completes referrals and other paperwork in a timely manner.
• Maintains tracking of UDS required information.
• Other responsibilities as assigned to create a smoothly run efficient clinic.

Qualifications:

Prefer a minimum of 2 years experience in responsible optometry operations

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

A certification (COT) from an accredited Ophthalmic Technologist program, is strongly preferred.
