Panasonic Energy of North America (PENA) is collaborating with Tesla Motors, Inc. to construct a large-scale advanced battery manufacturing facility known as the Gigafactory near Reno, Nevada which is known for its quality of life and expansive outdoor adventures. Panasonic's role in the Gigafactory will be to manufacture and supply cylindrical lithium-ion cells and based on the battery demand from Tesla, the Gigafactory is planned to produce cells which will double the world’s current production!

Hourly Rate of Pay: $24.48
Shift: Wednesday – Saturday, 7:00am-5:30pm
Quality Control Inspectors Job Responsibilities:The Quality Control Inspector II is fully trained on level I responsibilities. In this position, the QCI-II will help lead auditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of manufacturing processes and/or outputs against defined internal and regulatory standards. They will also complete testing on random samples of finished goods. The QCI-II is confident in reporting manufacturing process deviations and defects in finished goods and liaising with Quality Assurance to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Help establish quality control systems in battery production
  • Conduct inspection work on cells to determine if specifications are met
  • Carry out analysis to check for safety and performance from pre-production and mass production environments
  • Collect product data from the manufacturing process
  • Help carry out analysis and evaluation of sample cell data through specific factors to reduce defects and improve battery performance
  • Provides support to the cell manufacturing process through audits on defect prevention to assure production quality
Quality Control Inspectors Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2-4 years quality control and quality inspection background
  • 2 years familiarity with quality management tools such as controls chart, FTA, and FMEA
  • Must possess excellent dexterity and nimbleness with repetitive hand motions
  • Practical experience with materials analysis, testing, and chemical analysis equipment
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to keep accurate records
  • Ability to read product data sheets and confirm conformance of products to specifications
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Quality Control Inspectors Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree in a Science or engineering
  • A background as a quality inspector in high-volume manufacturing is strongly desired
  • Experience in defect reduction of high-volume manufacturing products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal abilities

  • Employee must be able to work 12 hour shifts and is required to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) such as but not limited to: hard hat, respirator, gloves, eye protection, steel toe boots, etc.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employee’s, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Varying PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required to be worn while in the Production areas.
