Palomar Health Medical Group is Hiring a Clinical Practice Manager- ESCO-MOB1- Oncology Near Escondido, CA

Oncology Nurse Practice Manager reports to the Director of Ambulatory Oncology Services. This position has a dyad partnership with the Medical Director of Oncology. The Oncology Nurse Practice Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the oncology clinic and supports all oncologist(s) within the practice, nurse practitioner(s), registered nurse(s), medical assistants, PCRs, and other front office personnel. Responsible for recruiting, training, and mentoring staff. Ensures competencies are met for all job performances. The Oncology Nurse Practice Manager is responsible for the efficiency of the practice by ensuring the provider(s) and staff have what they need to see all new referrals, follow-up appointments, and answer all telephone calls within a timely manner. Ensures that the patients and families are treated with the utmost consideration, compassion, and personalized service. Ensures a culture that strives to accommodate the patient’s needs and advocates on behalf of the patient to ensure the financial burden is one that the patient can manage. Ensures authorization and billing personnel provide financial counseling to patients regarding insurance coverage, out of pocket expenses, and review of billing statements.

In collaboration with the medical director, establishes oncology appropriate evidenced-based quality metrics, and performance improvement goals for the practice. Fosters program growth and development. Ensures regulatory compliance is met relating to patient care standards. Works collaboratively with physician(s) to manage the health care needs for this patient population.

The Oncology Nurse Practice manager must have extensive experience working with oncology and medically complex patients. The Oncology Nurse Practice manager will work collaboratively with other oncology managers at Palomar Health. Ensures cooperation of the multidisciplinary team supporting the goals for the shared patient. Ensures the provision of education and support to the patients and families regarding their condition and ongoing management of their care. Actively participates to meet and exceed staff engagement, facility quality metrics, and Palomar Health Medical Group’s goals. Functions as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate efforts across the health system that maximize clinical and financial outcome.

Uses critical thinking in planning, priority-setting, and decision-making while ensuring positive working systems exist to support the staff's ability to meet patient needs. Is a role model inspiring others through displayed optimism, provides intellectual stimulation, and encourages follower creativity.

The Oncology Nurse Practice Manager serves as leader and role model in the ambulatory oncology program. Oversees and assists with review and assessment of referred patients to the practice. Ensure full and proper authorization is in place to treat patients with chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy including oral oncolytics. Partners with the Service Line Leadership of Medical Oncology and Administrative Director of Ambulatory Oncology to strategize programmatic development and maintain excellence in quality cancer care under the service line direction. The Oncology Nurse Practice Manager is responsible for maintaining excellent patient relationships and addressing patient and family concerns. Supports leadership and staff to meet and exceed patient experience goals in the Infusion program; and leadership of performance improvement projects which serve to enhance processes and care and in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Plan. Provides ongoing education and training to staff to ensure the safety and administration of new biotherapies, or targeted agents.

Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education: RN with a master’s degree in a healthcare related field or MBA

Preferred Education: Not Applicable

Minimum Experience: 5 years related clinical oncology experience as an RN

Preferred Experience: 2 years progressive management experience

Required License: Current CA RN License

Preferred License: Not Applicable

Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider, Oncology Certified Nurse within 12 months of hire.
