Palms Casino Resort is Hiring a Host/Hostess - Ghost Bar - On Call Near Las Vegas, NV

Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Manager and/or General Manager, the primary responsibility of the Host Person to greet guests in a courteous, timely, and professional manner while ensuring his/her outlet is clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times. The Host Person is to assist the Lounge Cocktail Servers and Bus Persons as it relates to guest contact and table information. Additionally, the host at Ghostbar will be responsible for making table reservations, seating guests, answering phone and email messages, and returning call(s) to assist guests with any reservation information, assist in marketing and communicating pertinent information to other departments on property.

Job Description

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with venue reservation(s) regarding special orders, and special requests – responsible for conveying all such information to management.
  • Communicate and market assigned venues to Group Sales, Player Development, and other necessary venues/departments to increase visitations and table reservations to internal guests.
  • Maintain knowledge of scheduled daily activities and in-house groups, daily house count, table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range and dress code of the venue.
  • Be comfortable selling and negotiating in “Real-Time” table prices, at the front door.
  • Greet guests promptly as they enter the venue.
  • Answer phones, keep accurate count of reservations and handle reservation book.
  • Ensure menus have proper inserts and are current according to the most recent change, and replace all menus in poor condition.
  • Communicate the needs of the guests to the server(s) and management, inform management of guest reactions and comments, and assist management as needed to ensure smooth operation and quality service.
  • Frequently check back with guests who are waiting to be seated; make it evident to guests that they have not been forgotten and that tables are being prepared for them.
  • In venue table touches/guest greeting(s) to ensure guests are having a memorable experience
  • Operate POS system.
  • Handle money and credit transactions.
  • Notify manager on duty of any guest concerns.
  • Check availability on a continuous basis.
  • The Host Person performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and assumes other responsibilities, duties, tasks, and assignments that contribute to the mitigation or response to any public health emergency.
  • Will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in a restaurant or night club setting as a Host preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machine.
  • Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of Food & Beverage Cashier or equivalent experience in a cash handling position.
  • Must obtain a Health Card.
  • Must obtain a TAM Card.
  • Must obtain a Nevada Gaming License.
  • Experience in a high-volume outlet.
  • Experience with touch screens.
  • Work varied shifts, to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience working in a similar resort setting preferred.
  • Ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, climb, crawl, kneeling, crouching, balance etc. for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms.
  • Knowledge of hotel services, features, local attractions, and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
  • Experience with UrVenue system preferred as well as Open Table or other reservation(s) systems.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a fast-paced setting.
  • Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
  • May be exposed to smoke.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Constant contact with executives, department management, employees, and guests.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility.
  • Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Eye/hand coordination.
  • Use of standard office equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Will be required to work evening, weekends, and holiday shifts.
