Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort is Hiring an Assistant Food & Beverage Director Near Hilton Head Island, SC

Description

This position is responsible for assisting the F&B Director with all food and beverage production and service within the Resort including: supervising the Catering/Banquet Manager, supervising Restaurant Managers, assist in the hiring/onboarding process of new employees, be the liaison between departments as the representative from F&B, be responsible for new business development/guest acquisition for all outlets, oversee/implement technology to streamline operations, work closely with marketing team to drive new promotions/events.

  • Assure that effective orientation and training for new staff and professional development activities for experienced staff are planned and implemented.
  • Help plan and approve external and internal marketing and sales promotion activities for the Food and Beverage Department.
  • Conduct daily / weekly visits to the outlets.
  • Assist with managing the long-range staffing needs of the department.
  • Help hire, train, and supervise F&B team.
  • Help ensure that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to, including wage and hour and federal, state and/or local laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for Food and Beverage departments.
  • Monitor purchasing and receiving procedures for products and supplies to ensure proper quantity, quality, and price for all purchases.
  • Ensure all equipment (including TVs are in working order)
  • Consult with the F&B Director and other applicable resort administrators daily to help assure the highest level of guest satisfaction at minimum cost.
  • Greet guests and oversee actual service on a routine basis.
  • Provide support to the outlets and work to fill in shifts as needed for managers or supervisors who are out on leave, vacation, illness, etc.
  • Ensure correct handling procedures to minimize china and glassware breakage and food waste.
  • Ensure correct cash handling procedures are being followed.
  • Address customer complaints and appropriately follow Service Recovery procedures.
  • Monitor employee dress codes according to policies and procedures.
  • Help enter and approve all product invoices before submitting to the Accounting Department.
  • Manage physical inventory verification and provide updated information to the Accounting Department.
  • Responsible for the proper accounting and reconciliation of the Point of Sale systems.
  • Maintain records of special events, house counts, food covers and daily business volumes.
  • Assist with auditing and approving weekly payroll.
  • Assist with approving all entertainment.
  • Provide input on the remodeling, refurbishment, and other building design enhancements applicable to food and beverage service.

Requirements

  • 2 years management experience in a multi-outlet operation preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills & Computer knowledge 
  • Ability to enforce all resort standards, policies, and procedures with resort associates.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to lead and direct performance of departmental associates and follow through with corrections where needed.
  • Ability to effectively model and maintain resort mission statement and guiding principles.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems while exercising good judgment and maintaining the best interest of the resort.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guest and resort information.
  • Ability to effectively motivate department associates and maintain a cohesive team.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of associates within the resort and company.
  • Ability to work effectively with all departments in order to meet their needs.
  • Ability to respond to all associate concerns in a calm and objective manner.
  • Ability to input and access data in a computer in a timely manner.
  • Ability to understand guest inquiries and provide responses.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull twenty pounds in order to fulfill job duties and assist throughout the resort.
