Essential Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Medical Surgical Services (MS) Nursing Director, the Medical Surgical Services Nurse Manager is responsible to provide, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided for the Medical and Surgical at PRMC, and is guided by the policies and procedures of the hospital. The MS Nurse Manager provides supervisory direction for the development and evaluation of all nursing personnel, while maintaining operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with support services. Contribute to nursing and the hospital through support of philosophy and objectives, educational and research efforts. Accountable to assure that HCAPS, patient, employee, and physician satisfaction scores are in acceptable ranges. Accountable as a front-line supervisor for assigning, building and directing teams to provide care to the patient’s assigned. Accountable for assuring all nursing staff are following the National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measure Initiatives without fail, especially those specific to MS. Is proactive in identifying needs of staff and resolves issues to improve patient care and supports nursing leadership directives and initiatives. Embraces and oversees shared governance model by ensuring the Clinical Unit Committee occurs at least monthly with staff nurses to improve the unit operations and encourages others to participate for a common goal for performance improvement. Responsible for scheduling and payroll of all department staff under the direction of the MS Nursing Director. Attend department meetings as requested by nursing leadership. The MS Nurse Manager utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct and indirect nursing care of the patient. Population Served includes: Patient’s, family members, visitors, physicians, nursing team, and other hospital disciplines.
