Founded in 1916, Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club is located in Tampa’s most prestigious residential neighborhood and is the Tampa Bay area’s most prestigious private club. The club features an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, swimming, a fitness center, and clubhouse for member entertaining, dining and banquets. Our main focus is providing our members and their guests with outstanding facilities and the highest standard of service.

Job Summary

The tennis attendant is an entry-level position that works for the tennis operations performing routine tasks involving tennis court set-up and cleanup, providing appropriate equipment to participants during lessons, monitoring tennis courts, and enforcing facility rules and regulations. This job does not require an advanced education, however, in order to be successful, the incumbent must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to interact frequently with members of all ages and their guests; and must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and special events. Standard hours of operation are 7:30 am to 9:00 pm, seven days a week. THIS POSITION WILL WORK 3:00 PM to 9:00PM, 5 DAYS PER WEEK.

Essential Duties

  • Acknowledges and greets all members and their guests, ensuring they are provided the highest standard of service. Develops positive relationships with members, offering guidance and answering questions about the tennis operations. Fields member or guest concerns and/or directs them to a supervisor for resolution.
  • Assists in processing registrations for tennis activities and events.
  • Maintains the tennis courts and equipment in proper condition by performing daily duties including cleaning and sweeping playing surfaces; inspecting lighting equipment, water coolers, and ball machines; performing minor repairs, ensuring adequate supply of balls and rackets, and ball picking.
  • Reports any property damages or repairs needed to the tennis director and/or maintenance director and takes initiative to learn simple tennis court maintenance skills.
  • Ensures continuity of member service by ensuring all work areas are neat, clean, and free of trash, debris, and waste.
  • Observes and enforces all rules, regulations, and procedures of the facility.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and complies with uniform and dress codes.
  • Assists in training other tennis attendants as needed.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Performs other related duties that may be assigned by the direct supervisor.

Requirements

Physical Demands

  • Must be physically capable of operating tennis athletic equipment and machinery including ball machine, tennis racket, ball hopper, ball basket, etc.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing 20-30 pounds; must be able to perform repetitive motion and activities such as walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, and carrying; must be able to exert a negligible amount of force to move objects.
  • Must be able to stand and perform moderately physically demanding work for sustained periods of time throughout work shift; must be able to move continuously for extended periods of time under various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to tolerate working outside in Florida temperatures and adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, humidity, rain, and temperature extremes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and/or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience working in a tennis or sports facility, or a basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the game of tennis.
