About this role
Responsible for college recruitment and outreach with an emphasis on individual recruitment strategies through high school presentations as well as community outreach.
Conducts academic and professional advising, assesses student progress, and provides guidance in academic success. This is a grant-funded position.
Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding.
What a day of a Outreach Program Specialist looks like :
Advises students as to course of study, particular course offerings, necessary testing, and prerequisites. Assists students in selecting a major and program.
Assists in understanding educational, personal, and occupational strengths and limitations.
Coordinates and assists with planning and implementing student activities on campus and externally, including orientation for student outreach programs.
Qualifies, registers, and monitors students in recruitment and retention programs.
Develops and maintains positive relations with the community to promote College partnerships and collaboration. This may include working with various groups to bring diversity into the College.
Acts as a College liaison for programs and services with outside agencies or community leaders.
Coordinates and presents academic and professional workshops. Presents college information to community schools and organizations regarding the College’s degree and certificate programs.
Directs, audit records and procedures and compiles annual reports of Student Outreach Programs. Conducts research and assists others in conducting research.
Maintains vendors and customer database, including contracts, addresses, and terms.
Utilizes technology and innovation to enhance enrollment processes and deliver services in a manner that reinforces efforts to recruit and retain students.
Coordinates and manages programs to investigate student problems. Programs may also provide counseling to students, families, faculty, and staff.
Assists students with issues utilizing a variety of formats and counsels students regarding their adaptability to a college environment.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree
Two years of related experience
Knowledge of :
Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Skilled in :
Promoting cooperative behavior and team efforts
Delivering a high level of customer service
Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Ability to :
Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements :
Regular physical attendance required
Some periods throughout the year will require extended work hours including nights, weekends, and college closures
Must complete FERPA training within 30 days of employment
Valid Florida driver’s license
Requires travel between various on and off campus locations
