POSITION PROFILE:

This position of Design Director will provide significant creative support for all Palisociety (the “Company”) projects and as may be applicable, will also provide Project Management responsibilities for select projects for the Company. The position will have overall project responsibility, design oversight, and quality control under the direction of Company Founder/CEO/Creative Director and Principal of Real Estate & Development, and VP of Design & Development.

TASKS AT HAND:

Creative/Design Oversight - For All Company projects:

• Provide overall design and creative support to Company Founder/CEO.
• Distill design concepts and project needs into brand-appropriate, refined, elegant creative solutions.
• Contribute to the creative direction of all Company projects including guiding design programming & floor planning.
• Provide design creative support on fixture & finish material selections, lighting design, exterior features, landscape, and hardscape.
• Provide design creative support on the FF&E development, inclusive of creative direction and selection of finish materials.
• Provide creative support over the design integrity of hotels after opening, including design upgrades and needs.
• Create an atmosphere in which timely input and output of information flows smoothly and serve as a bridge between Company Founder/CEO and amongst all design team members.
• Remain attuned and connected to ideas and concepts and be part of the voice that will help keep design fresh as we create new projects.

Project Management - For Select Company projects:

• Project manages the design to include all interior architectural and FF&E design creation for project. 
• Create interior design construction documentation, schedules, and specifications, as applicable.
• Create and manage FF&E specifications and tracking documents as applicable.
• Create presentation materials, design concept & inspirational boards as needed.
• Coordinate materials sourcing and finish specification selection as appropriate.
• Assist in sourcing and purchasing of all interiors-related design for the project, i.e., materials and fixtures, when necessary 
• Assist in sourcing and purchasing of FF&E and OS&E, when necessary.
• Oversee and manage the installation of all FF&E, OS&E, and finish materials as applicable for project. 
• Management of the consultant and contractor team throughout the duration of the project
• Review and approve design documents issued by architects, M,E,P, and Structural engineers, design consultants and other vendors as applicable.
• Provide construction administration during construction and renovation of projects including site visits as applicable.
• Perform other design related duties and special projects as assigned.
• Assist with the creation and implementation of design budgets and continual management and monitoring of project budgets.
• Track project design execution to meet with each client’s program, quality objectives, project constraints, and operator’s brand of design.
• Conduct team meetings to review design issues and provide updates on milestones.
• Manage project schedule and ensure diligent execution of timelines.
• Quality assurance of project execution.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: 

• Experience leading and managing projects.
• Strong AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite experience.
• Ability to manage challenging situations, tasks and timelines with tact, grace and style while bringing new concepts and ideas to the team.
• Experience with the entire project lifecycle, from conception through occupancy and operations.
• Proven fiscal budgeting, accountability, and responsibility.
• Excellent written, verbal and management communication skills, including proven leadership, organization, and client relationship management skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other co-workers, departments, and business units with an engaged and innovative spirit.
• Ability to manage challenging situations, tasks and timelines with tact, grace, and style.
• Be adaptable to a dynamic project portfolio and always motivated to generate forward thinking results.
• 5 years of related experience, including demonstrated success as a project manager on various hospitality and/or brand design projects. 
• Ability to travel for project related tasks and work onsite during ongoing projects as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. 
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch. 
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time up to four (4) hours.
