Job title: Structural Fitter

Job Summary: The Structural Fitter is a key member of our team, specializing in the precise fitting and assembly of structural components for diverse projects. This role involves interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate materials, and meticulously aligning and securing pieces to ensure the accurate construction of metal structures. The Structural Fitter collaborates closely with a team to contribute to the successful completion of structural projects, meeting project deadlines, and adhering to safety guidelines.

Duties and responsibilities:

1. Interpret and analyze blueprints and specifications to understand the requirements for fitting and assembling various structural components.
2. Perform precise fitting tasks on structural elements, ensuring accurate alignment and assembly.
3. Select and prepare materials for assembly, considering factors such as size, shape, and thickness.
4. Collaborate with team members, including welders and engineers, to achieve project goals and contribute to the successful completion of structural projects.
5. Utilize hand and power tools to cut, shape, and assemble metal components accurately.
6. Verify dimensions and quality of assembled structures to meet industry standards and project specifications.
7. Operate and maintain fabrication equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner.
8. Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
9. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for oneself and team members.
10. Participate in quality control processes and inspections to identify and address potential issues.
11. Complete documentation, including work logs and inspection reports, accurately and promptly.

Requirements

Essential qualifications:

1. Proven experience as a Structural Fitter or in a similar role.
2. Proficient in interpreting blueprints and specifications accurately for the fitting and assembly of structural components.
3. Knowledge of different types of materials used in structural fabrication.
4. Strong attention to detail and precision in fitting and assembling metal structures.
5. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
6. High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Additional vocational training in structural fitting or a related field.
2. Previous experience working on structural projects of varying scales.
3. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes.
4. Ability to operate and maintain fabrication equipment efficiently.

Working conditions: The Structural Fitter typically works in a manufacturing or construction environment, with exposure to varying weather conditions, loud noises, and the need to wear personal protective equipment. The working hours may vary based on project deadlines and may include overtime.

Physical requirements: The position may require standing for extended periods, lifting heavy materials, and working in confined spaces. Additionally, the ability to operate fabrication equipment and tools is essential.
